Our Mission

“For you are a holy and set apart people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special to Him, out of all the peoples on the face of the earth” (Deut 7:6) Enlightened and inspired by the Spirit and being aware of the urgent need of evangelization, renewal, healing, restoration, unity and spiritual support for families to strengthen them in Christian way of living, to bring back the fallen away Catholics to its original fold and to permeate in to every level of secular world within the value of Christ as the “Light, Salt and Leaven”, especially in India and wherever needed. Archbishop S. Arulappa realized his vision by founding our missionary Institute of Priest, Sisters, Brothers and Laity by adopting the new form of apostolic life and Spirituality. This helped him and his early followers to work and integrate themselves among the people.

Our Vision

The Marian Missionaries of Christ (MMC) according to the ‘Vision received by their Founder Archbishop Most. Rev. S. Arulappa, and Co-Founder Rev. Fr. A. Joseph from Jesus and Mother Mary weeping blood with heavy heart and instructing them with following words “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34: 18) and “harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few” (Matt 9:37). This special Mandate is given to the Founders to save suffering vocations of Priests and Religious and encourage them to live like an early Christian community, to possess nothing and own nothing have everything in common, to continuously pray to save all souls to be united one heart and mind in Christ.

Vocation to Lay Missionaries and their mission

People can devote their lives to God while remaining single, those who are willing to live in a community life. Members of the religious order bind themselves to Jesus by the binding promises. Single members have freedom to take up any career as per their interests and abilities, in any place that is suitable for their spiritual and promised life; live single life in the strict sense of a religious order but always with personal responsibility and individual accountability.

Our Administrative Body and Their Ministries

Members of Marian Missionaries of Christ (MMC) under the guidance of Rev. Fr. A. Joseph Co-Founder and Superior General, serving the Lord and His people in different parts of our country and the World by constant prayer, adoration. They have dedicated their lives for the poor and needy through pastoral ministry, education ministry, health ministry and counselling ministry. The Institute is placed under the protection of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (Feast on December 08), St. Joseph (feast on March 19), St. Francis Xavier (feast on December 03) and St. Theresa of Child Jesus (feast on October 01).

Our Formation and Prospectus

On 14th August 1989 Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. S. Arulappa, had a vision from Jesus spoke to him with a heavy heart and with the Blessed Mother weeping with tears of blood saying, my beloved Priests and Religious are suffering a lot at the verge of losing their vocation (Harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few Matt: 9: 37). To save those who are in crisis and to build up a new generation of Priest, Religious and lay missionaries to live like early Christian Community, to pray continuously, to save all souls and to prepare the whole world for God’s mercy. After this vision, the Archbishop visited Rev. Fr. A. Joseph who had the same vision in the same manner as the Archbishop had, and at that time Fr. A. Joseph had been in Healing Prayer ministry and continuous intercession for the Catholic Church and for the whole world. Archbishop S. Arulappa instructed him to form prayer groups consisting of Priests, Religious and Lay Missionaries to fulfil his vision. Based on his vision, on 9th September, 1995 Archbishop S. Arulappa, issued the Decree of the Canonical erection of the Institute of the Marian Missionaries of Christ, Institutum Missionariorum Marianorum Christi (MMC), (A New form of Consecrated life of Priests, Sisters and Brothers in the light of Can.605) is a Religious in nature under Diocesan Right, depending on the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
